Thomas Lavin Inc. is seeking a bright, passionate Team Member to develop relationships and solve interior design challenges through custom design and sales.  Up-tempo pace with high accountability and commensurate reward.  Charm, verve, and result-oriented are qualities we value (sense of style is a bonus).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Superior listening skills (customer, colleagues, management)
  • Extraordinary communication:   we pride ourselves on using the telephone.  Self-expression and collaboration are the name of the game.  Our perfect candidate speaks clearly and receives feedback well
  • Attention to detail: OCD is a winner here
  • Shopping / schemes for customers: working knowledge of color and textiles; working knowledge of furniture and lighting terms (however, an autodidact with passion will conquer  this plateau in a New York Minute)
  • Engaged: curious & hospitable.  If your love language is being of service, your desk is on and ready

About the Company

Thomas Lavin is one of the youngest entrepreneurs in Los Angeles to successfully open, own and operate two interior design showrooms featuring the very best in high-end furniture, fabric, lighting and accessories from the United States and Europe. The success of his “boutique” owner-operated showroom is his ability to spot singularly designed, impeccably crafted home furnishings lines and luxuriously display them with contemporary art. Lavin also is dedicated to providing exceptional client service, which has won him a loyal following among L.A.’s most exclusive architects and interior designers who cater to the upper echelons of the Southern California population.

He opened his eponymous showroom on Beverly Boulevard in 2000, and in 2005 moved to a dramatic 11,000-square-foot showplace in the Pacific Design Center’s Blue Building. With a 2019 expansion, the showroom now measures 19,000 square feet and includes dedicated areas for accessories as well as a stand-alone showroom for French heritage brand Liaigre. To better serve his clientele in Orange County, San Diego and the desert communities, Lavin opened a showroom at the Laguna Design Center in 2014.

Lavin is widely known by magazine editors, and he and the showroom have been featured in numerous publications including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Western Interiors, House & Garden, The Los Angeles Times and many other magazines and newspapers. Lavin is a strong supporter of design industry events, including DIFFA’s annual Dining by Design charity. He is a founder of Design on Beverly Boulevard and a member of the board of directors of the Avenues of Art and Design.


$50-$100k, plus full benefit package
